2006 will be remembered as Michael Schumacher's final year at the legendary Scuderia Ferrari, and upstart Fernando Alonso's first World Championship defense. This poster celebrates the 18 circuits based in 16 different countries, on five different continents the two drivers waged battle upon – with Schumacher or Alonso winning all but four races (7:7).
2006 would also mark the final season a Grand Prix would take place at Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, Italy – the circuit where Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger would lose their lives in 1994 during the race weekend.
The 2006 calendar marked the largest Grand Prix season to date, at 18 events. Of those 18, three circuits have since been dropped from subsequent seasons (Imola, Indianapolis, and Magny-Cours), with the Nürburgring and Hockenheim Grand Prix venues alternating years of service.
